Clif was looking for an honorarium greeting for the aware crowd. Something more meaningful linguistically than "mate." I'm more of an languager than a linguist... but I'll take my best shot.

I thought of Buckeye (half-past human book reference to the humans still left after initiative, spirit, and individualism was bred out of the human population). Buckeyes had genes for (if not all) five toes and lived outside the rest of the conformist neebish, or happened to go Buckeye, after waking up. (The futuristic neebish had only four toes, and were complacent with football, TV and Fox News.)

Problem with Buckeye... from a linguistic purity standpoint... it doesn't fare well in Urban Dictionary entries. Don't look Ethel. (Oh, my ... I don't blush often, but I did today. Don't look this one up at work.)

Not done with the thought trail ... I looked for the hero from Orwell's 1984, but found no counterpart to the neebish counterparts of prolls. No Marxist reference to heros, just Prolitariats and Burgegoise (can't speel or pronounce that one). So

I honed in on the obvious. Buckminster Fuller.

Call me Bucky. Better yet... just call me TrimTab

Not a ringer for marketing, unless you're the upthink crowd. Kinda like Ron Paul.
Mention Federal Reserve to most folks and they think it's a beer made in Washington D.C.
It's all in the message. If you can get beyond the stuttering and quirks ... it's in the message, not in the wardrobe or spray-on tan.

    and so

An honorarium conversation goes like this:
